Acupuncturist Salary Information

According to data provided by PayScale.com, acupuncturists can earn anywhere from $43,000 to $60,000 per year, depending on how long they have been practicing. But these numbers are little misleading. There are successful acupuncturists who know how to market themselves that are making six-figure incomes and living a very comfortable lifestyle. There are several factors that can greatly contribute to an acupuncturist having a higher or lower salary. For instance, the location of the acupuncture practice can significantly influence how much an acupuncturist can charge for their services as well as the number of people who seek out acupuncture treatments.

For example an acupuncturist in New York City can earn $72,000, and in Denver $65,000 compared to an acupuncturist in Portland earning a mere $25,000 year.

What acupuncturists earn depends on a number of factors including:
  • How many days per week they see patients.
  • How many patients they see per day.
  • How much they earn from herbal or other retail products.
  • How much they charge per patient.
  • How much they earn from passive income sources.
  • What state they are practicing in.
  • Whether they accept Insurance & what the reimbursement rate is.
  • Whether they have employees and office staff.
