Dental Laboratory Technician Salary Information

Dental laboratory technicians have annual salaries of about $37,000 on average, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). There are a number of factors that influence the average salary earned by an individual technician. These include location and education level.

According to the BLS, in 2008 the lowest-paid 10 percent of dental laboratory technicians earned $20,740 a year or less, while the highest-paid 10 percent of dental laboratory technicians earned salaries of over $58,140 a year.

The largest employers of dental laboratory technicians are typically medical equipment manufacturers and dentists offices. Averaged salaries for technicians in these fields ranage from $36,000 to $38,000 a year, respectively.

The BLS also reports that the highest-paying employers of dental laboratory technicians include the federal government, employment agencies and colleges and universities. Technicians in these fields have salaries from $40,000 to $55,000 a year on average.

Dental laboratory technicians who have gone on to earn an associate degree on average earn about 20% more than their counterparts that only have a high school diploma.
