Emergency Medical Specialist/Doctor Salary Information

Payscale.com recently reported that as of 2010 the average base salary for Emergency Room (ER) physicians was $120,314 to $218,592 per year in the United States. The highest salary for ER physicians was reported in San Antonio, Texas, where average salaries ranged from $130,000 to $256,809 per year.

ER physicians also receive bonuses, commissions, profit sharing and other fringe benefits. The average total compensation for ER physicians ranged from $148,588 to $274,700 per year as of 2010.

ER physicians work in a variety of health care facilities including acute care service centers, hospitals, emergency medical rooms and consulting organizations. As of 2010, the highest paying industry for ER physicians was hospitals, paying average salaries ranging between $119,565 and $219,639 per year.
