Geriatric Psychiatry Schools and Colleges

Geriatric psychiatrists are licensed medical doctors. After completing 4 years of medical school, psychiatrists are required to complete a 4 year psychiatry residency at which time they can complete a geriatric psychiatry fellowship. Many psychiatry residents complete research during their residencies.

Psychiatrists interested in geriatric psychiatry board-certification are required to pass 2 exams and satisfy certification requirements in a specialized field. The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology administers these examinations.
