Geriatric Staff Nurse Schools and Colleges

Geriatric nurses are registered nurses who complete specialized training. Registered nurses hold undergraduate degrees in nursing from accredited colleges or universities. Before becoming licensed as registered nurses, candidates are also required to pass a national test known as the NCLEX-RN.

After acquiring work experience, registered nurses can apply to be certified as geriatric nurses. Those holding a graduate degree in nursing can apply to become geriatric clinical nurse specialists or gerontological nurse practitioners. Those participating in research, holding management positions, or providing specialized treatments are usually required to hold graduate degrees.
