Homecare Assistant/Aide Salary Information

As of 2009, home health care aides earn median wages of $9 an hour, while those with at least 5 years of work experience earn median wages of $10 an hour.

As of 2008, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, average earnings for home health aides just exceed $21,000 a year.

During this same timeframe, nearly 80 percent of these specialists earn wages between $7.65 - 14 every hour. Home health care aides with earnings in the 50th percentile earn between $8.50 - 11.70 annually.

Home health aides working at hospitals earn anywhere from $11.50 - 13 an hour, while those employed at hospices earn $12 an hour. Many home health aides are certified as nursing assistants.

Home health care aides employed in the Northeast earn the highest wages nationwide. Those employed in urban regions of Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut earn wages averaging between $13.75 - 17 an hour.
