Medicine

The term "medicine", as used today, refers to the clinical practice of diagnosing, treating and preventing illness and disease. There are two types of doctors that practice medicine: allopathic physicians (MDs - Medical Doctors) and osteopathic physicians (DOs - Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine). All physicians that practice medicine in the United States are required by law to be a licensed M.D. or D.O.

However, the scope of modern medicine is not restricted to just clinical practice. It also includes healthcare science (science of improving healthcare delivery), clinical research, and biogerontology (study of aging).
