Nuclear Medicine Technologist Salary Information

During 2009, median entry-level salaries for nuclear medicine technologists neared $52,000 annually, while annual salaries for those with five years of work experience exceeded $62,000.

During 2008, nearly 80 percent of nuclear medicine technologists made between $48,000-88,000 a year. During this same time, those with salaries in the 50th percentile made anywhere from $57,000-78,000 annually, while median salaries neared $67,000.

Nuclear medicine technologists are typically employed in surgical and general hospitals. Those employed at specialty hospitals, including cancer clinics, typically earn about $73,000 a year.

Nuclear medical technologists working as contractors or small business owners usually earn slightly higher than the median, around $34-35 per hour.

Salaries for these specialists are affected by location. Some of the better job opportunities for nuclear medicine technologists are located in California. Those employed in San Jose, San Francisco, and Sacramento typically earn about $89,000 a year, while those employed in Hayward, Fremont, or Oakland make over $100,000 a year.
