Physical therapy assistants help patients rehabilitating from serious injuries and illnesses, administer basic examinations and procedures, maintain records, and perform various duties under the direction of licensed physical therapists.

As of 2009, average annual earnings for entry-level physical therapy assistants were between $31,450 - 40,811 a year. Annual average earnings for those with 5-9 years of work experience ranged between $38,918 - 51,421 annually. Regardless of experience, annual salaries nationwide for physical therapist assistants during 2009 ranged between $35,819 - 54,464 a year.

Because of large state populations, physical therapist assistants employed in Texas and Florida have the highest salaries nationwide. As of 2009, average annual salaries for physical therapist assistants working in Florida fall anywhere between $31,452 - 56,433 a year, while annual salaries for those employed in Texas range between $34,000 - 55,190 annually.
