As of 2009, average hourly wages for podiatrists exceed $63.00 an hour, which equates to more than $131,000 annually. Podiatrists with salaries within the bottom 10th percentile earn $48,770 or below annually, while those with salaries in the upper 10th percentile earn $166,400 or more a year.

Podiatrists practicing at physicians’ clinics earn the highest annual salaries, averaging $145,240 a year, while those employed at outpatient facilities earn high salaries, averaging $144,850 a year. Podiatrists practicing at other types of medical clinics average $133,650 annually.

As of 2009, podiatrists employed in Michigan earn the highest salaries nationwide, averaging $173,730 a year. Next to podiatrists practicing in Michigan, those employed in Texas earn the second highest salaries nationwide, averaging $166,220 annually. Podiatrists practicing in Wisconsin earn the third-highest salaries nationwide, averaging $165,990 a year. Podiatrists practicing in the following metropolitan areas earn the highest average annual salaries: Dallas, $204,000; Sacramento, $202,000; and Detroit, $201,070.
